The New Zealand Parliament is currently considering changes to legislation related to gene technology and genetic editing. The Nathaniel Centre for Bioethics, a Catholic agency, and the Interchurch Bioethics Council have prepared a resource to explain this complex area of science and law. The Parliament is receiving submissions on the Gene Technology Bill next Monday, February 17.

Church Resource Library for Families

St Joseph's Youth Ministry Leadership Team have set up a Church Resource Library for families. This is located in the foyer of the church outside the entrance to the toilets. The aim of this library is to provide resources to parents about the Catholic faith that they can borrow for a few weeks and use at home with their children.

Please feel free to take advantage of these great resources!

Parish Highlights

Below is a Clergy Appointment List for the Archdiocese of Wellington for 2025. We are sad to announce that Fr Bruce England will be retiring as our Parish Priest of Levin after Easter. We have truly appreciated everything Fr Bruce has done for our Parish in the time he has been here and he will be greatly missed.

By the end of January, we will have two Missionary Priests of the Sacred Heart (MSC) come to join us at Levin - Fr Simione Volavola MSC and Fr Beniata Bakatete MSC. These priests will be working alongside Fr Bruce England until Easter and then they will assume pastoral responsibility for the parish.

As Fr Alan Roberts, Parish Priest of St Mary's Church in Otaki, is also retiring after Easter, our two new Missionary priests will be looking after both Parishes. While Fr Simione and Fr Beniata will be responsible for the pastoral needs of both St Joseph's Parish, Levin and St Mary's Parish, Otaki, it is important to note that both parishes will remain separate and there will be no amalgamation of the two.
